We recently attended an event at Gusto Restaurant in Century City and were hugely impressed by the quality and service while we were there. Imagine then, our surprise to hear about the Century City Conference Centre Award – some great news indeed. There are wins, and then there are what-just-happened-I-need-a-champagne-spritz-to-cope wins.
The latter is exactly what unfolded on 8 May 2025, when Cape Town’s Century City Conference Centre struck GOLD, twice, at the prestigious Eventex Awards, the international benchmark for excellence in the events and experiential marketing industry.
Let’s be clear; this isn’t your average local pat-on-the-back. This is the big leagues.
Century City Conference Centre Staircase and Foyer

With over 1,200 entries from 59 countries – yes, six continents worth of competition – Century City didn’t just show up. They stood up, stood out, and stood tall among global heavyweights from the UK to Costa Rica.
And what did they win?
🏆 Best Large Venue (GOLD)
These aren’t just awards for good architecture and pretty banqueting chairs. They’re accolades that recognise experience design, sustainability, operational excellence, and that rare ability to make 1,000 delegates feel like honoured guests rather than headcount.
“It’s not a building. It’s a belief system.”
When Sven Bossu, CEO of the International Association of Convention Centres, praised the venue’s design and ethos, saying, “creating spaces that feel good and do good,” he wasn’t just tossing out brochure copy.
He captured something essential. Century City isn’t about floorspace. It’s about feel-space.
It’s about creating environments where the lighting makes you look good on Zoom, the acoustics let you whisper deals over dinner, and the team behind the scenes treats your brief like a sacred scroll.
A Word on Obsession (The Good Kind)

Gary Koetser, CEO of Century City Conference Centre & Hotels, made it beautifully clear:
“This award is not about bricks and mortar – it’s about people. It’s about a team obsessed with the guest experience. And that obsession pays off.”
Indeed it does.
The Real Win? Cape Town on the World Stage

This is not just a trophy in a glass case. It’s a message:
Cape Town can play at the highest level. And win.
The next time a global brand considers where to host its conference, pitch its vision, or toast its investors, let them know we have a venue that not only wins awards… it wins hearts.
So, to the team at Century City Conference Centre, hats off, hands clapping, champagne chilling. You’ve not just raised the bar, you’ve had it gold-plated. And if anyone tells you excellence can’t be planned and perfected? Tell them to book the venue. You’ll show them how it’s done.
