An Octet Of Friends

This is a concert inspired by the tradition of the “Hausmusik” concerts in Vienna in the Romantic era; home gatherings of friends and family who played, sang or listened to music, and which provided an important platform for the new compositions of composers such as Franz Schubert.

Our concert is an opportunity to listen to Schubert’s “Great Octet” for 5 string instruments and 3 wind instruments. It is a beautiful and appealing work which is rarely heard in Cape Town. The programme will start with a string quartet by Mozart.

The ensemble is led by the violinist Lucia di Blasio Scott.
