South Africa’s eagerly anticipated Seven Days of Shiraz is coming up soon (21-28 August 2024). In celebration, we’re featuring the Saronsberg Provenance Shiraz 2021 as our Wine of the Week.
Located in the picturesque Tulbagh Valley, Saronsberg Cellar is renowned for its exceptional quality and innovative winemaking practices. Since opening in 2003, Saronsberg has embraced a bold, innovative vision for winemaking.
Vineyards are planted on diverse soil types, allowing for the cultivation of a variety of grape varieties, each contributing unique characteristics to their wines. Their wine portfolio includes a range of reds, whites, and blends. Their Shiraz is particularly notable for its depth and complexity.
Their wines garner high ratings and top awards, reflecting the estate’s commitment to excellence. In fact, this reputable winery prides itself on having won over 400 prestigious wine awards since 2004. The cellar, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, allows for precise control over the winemaking process, from fermentation to ageing.
This dedication to quality, combined with an inviting atmosphere, makes Saronsberg Wines a standout destination. Saronsberg hosts a range of experiences for the senses:
- Wine tastings and sales: Taste their award-winning wines while gazing upon the work of established and emerging South African artists in the tasting room.
- Vineyard Cottages: Stay over at their accommodation and immerse yourself in the mesmerising vistas of this romantic valley while savouring a glass of Saronsberg wine.
- Weddings and conferences: At this stunning venue, host the meeting or wedding of your dreams. No matter the occasion, there’s a range of packages available.
Our Wine of the Week, the Saronsberg Provenance Shiraz 2021 is one of the winery’s award-winning Shiraz wines. It has soft textured tannins, a full-bodied mouthfeel and a silken finish. These lend themselves as a platform for a heady mix of red berry and black fruit flavours combined with floral notes and fynbos nuances.
In 2024, this esteemed Shiraz made the top 100 of the National Wine Challenge and it secured a Gold medal at The Drinks Business Global Syrah Masters. And, the unreleased 2022 vintage won Gold at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2024.
